Four Women's Basketball Players Named All-Region

March 17, 2004 – D3hoops.com has announced its 2003-2004 Women's Basketball All-Region Teams.  Three USA South players are among those honored.  Chowan's CC Vaughn and Christopher Newport's Amber Hallman were both named to the All-South First Team.  Methodist's Jennifer Dollyhigh and Peace's Tia Saunders made the Third Team.  Players were nominated for these awards by the Sports Information Directors at the various schools.  All SIDs in the region were then given the opportunity to vote.  This is the third year D3hoops.com has bestowed these awards. 

Vaughn, a senior from Murfreesboro, NC, led the Braves to a regular-season championship by averaging 20.4 points and 11.3.  She was named to the All-Conference First Team and All-Tournament Team.  She led the USA South in scoring and was rewarded by being named the Player of the Year. 

A Williamsburg, VA senior, Hallman led the Captains to a tournament title and on to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.  She averaged 16 points and 10 rebounds per game this season.  She was named to both the First Team All-Conference and All-Tournament Team.

Dollyhigh, a senior from Mt. Airy, NC, averaged 15.7 points and 6.1 rebounds per game for the Monarchs this season.  She was named to the First Team All-Conference. 

A sophomore from Lawndale, NC, Saunders led Peace with 20.2 points and 10 rebounds per game this season.  She was the second leading scorer in the USA South.  She was named to the First Team All-Conference.
