NCAA Appoints Commissioner Wiggs To Management Council

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Rita Wiggs, the Commissioner of the USA South Athletic Conference, was recently selected to serve as a member of the NCAA Division III Management Council. Wiggs, in her seventh year at the USA South, will be one of 19 members on the committee representing various geographic regions across the country within Division III sports.

The Council is comprised of Division III Chief Executive Officers, faculty athletics representatives, athletic directors, senior woman administrators, conference representatives and student-athletes. These individuals are responsible for a number of Division III matters including the implementation of policies adopted by the Presidents Council and Executive Committee, resolving Division III issues and adopting non-controversial and intent-based amendments, administrative bylaws and regulations to govern Division III.

Wiggs is no stranger to Division III NCAA Legislation and Governance Councils as she has served on the Nominating Committee and chaired the Women's Basketball Committee in recent years. Wiggs will begin her four-year term on the Management Council immediately following the 2008 NCAA Convention.
