Two Women's Basketball Players Named All-State

March 31, 2004 – The Virginia Sports Information Directors Association (VaSID) has announced its 2004 Women's Basketball All-State Team.   Christopher Newport's Amber Hallman has been named to the First Team, while teammate Tomorrow Lofton made the Second Team.  The team members are nominated by and voted upon by Sports Information Directors at colleges and universities in the Commonwealth. 

Hallman, a senior from Williamsburg, VA, led the Captains in scoring, rebounds, blocks and steals this season.  She averaged 16 points and 10 rebounds per game and had 106 blocks and 64 steals.  She was also second on the team in assists with 91.  Hallman was named both First Team All-Conference and All-Region. 

A senior from Glen Allen, VA, Lofton led the Captains in assists and was second on the team in scoring and rebounds.  She averaged 14.8 points and 9.3 rebounds per game and had 145 assists on the season.  She also had 64 steals, tied with Hallman for most on the team.  Lofton was named First Team All-Conference this season.  The Captains were 21-9 overall and 12-4 in the USA South.  They won the Conference tournament and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
