Women's Basketball All-Conference Awards Announced

February 25, 2004 – The USA South Athletic Conference has announced its All-Conference awards for women's basketball.  Christopher Newport, Peace and Ferrum led the way with two members each.  Chowan's CC Vaughn has been named the Player of the Year.  FC's Aline Alzime is the Rookie of the Year.  Braves head coach Scott Groninger is the USA South Coach of the Year. 

Vaughn, a senior from Murfreesboro, NC, has averaged 21.3 points and 11.6 rebounds per game this season.  Her Braves finished the season 16-7, including going 13-3 in Conference action, and won the regular season title.  This is her second consecutive year on the First Team All-Conference. 

Alzime, a freshman from Leesburg, VA, averaged 11.8 points and 7.1 rebounds per game during the regular season.  The Panthers finished 11-5 in the Conference and 15-10 overall.  They ended the season third in the Conference. 

In his first year at Chowan, Groninger led his team to a regular season title.  The Braves finished 13-3 in Conference play and 16-7 overall.  They go into the USA South Tournament as the top seed.
