Women's Basketball Tournament Seeding Set

February 22, 2004 - Following the conclusion of the regular season today, the seeding for the 2004 USA South Women's Basketball Tournament has been set.  Regular season champion and tournament host Chowan will be the top seed, followed by Christopher Newport and Ferrum.  Peace comes in at the four spot, followed by Shenandoah at five.  Greensboro will be seeded sixth, followed by Methodist at seven.  The bracket is rounded out by N.C. Wesleyan at eight and Averett at nine.

The tournament will be held Thursday through Saturday at Chowan College in Murfreesboro, NC.  There will be a play-in game between N.C. Wesleyan and Averett on Tuesday at 7:00 at NCWC.  On Thursday, Christopher Newport will face off against Methodist at 2:00; Ferrum will play Greensboro at 4:00; Peace will face Shenandoah at 6:00 and finally Chowan will play the NCWC/AU winner at 8:00.  The semi-finals on Friday will be at 5:30 and 7:30.  The host team will always play in the later game, so if CC wins its first-round match-up with NCW/AU, they will face the winner of the PC/SU game at 7:30.  If CC loses its first-round game, NCW/AU will face PC/SU at 5:30.  The CNU/MC winner will face the FC/GC winner in the other game. The championship game will be Saturday at 3:00.
