USA South Announces 25-Year Team for Women's Tennis

(FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.) - The 2005-06 academic year marks the 25th anniversary of women's athletics in the USA South Athletic Conference.  Beginning in the fall of the 1981-82 academic year, the USA South, then known as the Dixie Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, incorporated four women's sports (volleyball, women's basketball, softball and women's tennis) and awarded championships in those sports.  In conjunction with the 25th anniversary, the conference is selecting Silver Anniversary teams in five women's sports (volleyball, women's soccer, women's basketball, softball and women's tennis).  Today the Conference is pleased to announce the Silver Anniversary team for women's tennis.

Elina Tolppa, Averett (1996-1998)
Two-time All-Conference; Two-time winner of the ITA Rolex National Tournament (1997 and 1996); Nationally ranked at singles and doubles throughout her career; Qualified for the 1997 NCAA Division III Individual Championship

Maaret Voutilainen, Averett  (1995-1998)
Two-time All-Conference at No. 1 singles; Two-time All-Conference at No. 2 doubles; Nationally ranked in doubles; 1997 All-Conference doubles champion

Jenny Nuttycombe, Christopher Newport (1984-1986)
Two-time All-Conference in singles (1984 and 1985); 35-11 career record in singles; 26-17 career mark in doubles

Amanda Riley, Christopher Newport (1998-2001) 
2000 First Team Team All-Conference in singles and doubles; 50-39 career mark in singles; 44-46 career record in doubles
