Perry & Pendergraft Named Baseball All-Americans
APPLETON, Wis. - The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) recently announced their All-America teams with Methodist University's Chris Perry and Shenandoah University's Jake Pendergraft each earning honors.
Perry was named First Team All-Region and Third Team All-America. The junior from Cary, N.C. earned a 6-2 record with a 2.14 earned run average and team-high 132 strikeouts. He struck out a season-high 14 batters in seven innings pitched against Piedmont and earned two complete game shutouts including a 3-0 win over nationally ranked Christopher Newport. Perry currently ranks second in the country in strikeouts and earlier this year was named USA South Pitcher of the Year and received First Team All-Conference and All-Tournament recognition.
Pendergraft led the Hornets this past season with a .423 average on 74 hits in 175 at-bats. Previously this season, he was named first team All-USA South and to the Newport News Regional All-Tournament team. Pendergraft is the eighth SU player in history to earn ABCA All-America honors and the fifth in the past four years.
