D3football.com Release

FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College's Montel Lee has been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week for his play in the Panthers' 13-8 non-conference win over Emory & Henry College Saturday, Sept. 2, in Emory, Virginia.

With 1:11 left in the game and Ferrum trailing 8-6, Lee stripped the ball from running back Sam Wagner and took off towards the end zone. Lee was brought down at the Emory & Henry 23 yard line, which set up the game winning drive for the Panthers. Three plays later, Ferrum would punch it in for the score with 37 seconds left in the game, on a 20-yard scoring strike from Zack Clifford to Johnny White with 37 seconds left in regulation.

Lee finished the game with five tackles, including four for loss, three sacks, and the forced fumble and recovery. This is his second career D3football.com Team of the Week honor. He also earned the honor after a four-sack effort in Ferrum's 42-20 non-conference win over Hampden-Sydney College last season. Lee was named to the D3football.com All-South Region second team in 2014 and 2016.

For his efforts, Lee was also named USA South Defensive Player of the Week. Lee was the 2016 USA South Defensive Player of the Year, and the 2014 USA South Defensive Rookie of the Year.
