Averett's Bowman Named to National Team of the Week

DANVILLE, Va. — Averett University football senior running back Sean Bowman earned more recognition on Tuesday when he was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week. On Monday, Bowman was selected as the USA South Conference's Offensive Player of the Week after a stellar performance over the weekend.

Bowman, a native of Creedmoor, North Carolina, rushed for a career-high 229 yards with one touchdown on 24 carries, averaging 9.5 yards a rush in Averett's 24-14 road win over N.C. Wesleyan College. In the process, Bowman broke the Cougars' career rushing yards record as he surpassed former standout Kyle Wilson on the all-time list.

For Bowman, it's the second time he has been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week during his career. He was selected last season following Week 4.

Averett (4-1, 3-0 USA South) hosts Huntingdon College on Saturday at 4 p.m.
