CNU Men's Basketball Falls at Guilford in NCAA Tournament
GREENSBORO, N.C. - The CNU men's basketball team hung with
fourth-ranked Guilford for most of the first half, but
eventually bowed, 83-59, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament
Friday night.
CNU, making its 17th NCAA appearance, led by one point, 28-27,
at the 4:58 mark on a jumper by Conley Taylor. But the Quakers
closed with a rush to take a 40-30 lead into the lockeroom.
Guilford quickly built the margin to 19 at 56-37 and CNU could get
no closer than 14 the rest of the way.
Taylor paced CNU with 15 points, while senior Mark Blasingame
closed his career as only the third player in CNU history to score
1,000 points and grab 1,000 rebounds, with yet another
double-double. He scored 12 points and had 11 rebounds. Josh
Russell added ten points.
Guilford, which is now 27-2, was paced by Rhett Bonner with 28
points.
