CNU Men's Soccer Advances to NCAA Second Round with 4-0 Win Over Cabrini
NEWPORT NEWS, VA - The Christopher Newport men's soccer team
defeated Cabrini College 4-0 in the first round of the NCAA
tournament Saturday night and moved to 18-2-1 on the season.
The Captains got on the scoreboard in the 13th minute
when Clif Kipper took a Nao Masuda pass and beat Cabrini's goal
keeper, Bryan Johnson. CNU added a second goal in the
22nd minute and went to halftime with a two goal
lead.
The Captains maintained their control during the second half of the
match with goals by Masuda and Andrew Bonorden and finished the
contest with a 15-7 shot advantage.
The Captains advance to play Lynchburg College tomorrow at 6:00 pm
on Captains Turf Field. Lynchburg was a 3-0 winner in the
first match of the night against Catholic and will enter the second
round contest with 17-2-2 record.
