USA South 2012 Men's Soccer Tournament Concludes First Round
(FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.) - The 2012 USA South Men's Soccer Tournament's first round concluded on Sunday, October 28 as second-seeded Averett bested seventh-seeded Maryville, 1-0. In other first round action which took place on Saturday, October 27, top-seeded Christopher Newport defeated eighth-seeded Piedmont, 4-1, third-seeded Methodist shutout Ferrum, 3-0, and fifth-seeded Greensboro upset fourth-seeded N.C. Wesleyan as The Pride advanced on penalty kicks, 5-3, after a scoreless draw.
The tournament now shifts to the Smith River Sports Complex in Martinsville, Virginia for the semifinal and championship games. The first semifinal contest will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, November 2, as Christopher Newport will battle Greensboro. In semifinal game number two at 2:30 p.m., Methodist will take on Averett. The winners of the two games will compete for the tournament title on Saturday, November 3 at 2:00 p.m.
