USA South Lacrosse Awards Announced

(FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.) - The USA South Athletic Conference has announced its All-Conference awards for lacrosse. A total of 44 student-athletes have been named to the USA South All-Conference teams. Christopher Newport University's Kaitlin Quigley earned Player of the Year awards while her coach, Carolyn Raveia, has been named Coach of the Year. Shenandoah University's Samantha Sisson collected Rookie of the Year accolades. Also, the USA South recognized an All-Sportsmanship Team, consisting of one member from each competing school.

All honors were determined by votes from the women's lacrosse coach at each institution.

Quigley, a senior midfielder from Round Hill, Virginia, becomes a three-time USA South Player of the Year. She currently ranks in the top-seven among USA South players in four. Quigley is fourth best in both points and assists with 68 and 26, respectfully. She has also totaled the third-most draw controls in the league this year, collecting 47. Additionally, Quigley contributed 21 groundballs and 11 caused turnovers. For her efforts, Quigley earned First Team All-Conference honors as a midfielder for the fourth consecutive season. Finally, she was named USA South Player of the Week twice this season.

Sisson, a freshman midfielder from Keuka Park, New York, has been extremely well-rounded statistically this season for the Hornets. Sisson's name can currently be found within the top-eight of eight USA South statistical categories. She tops the entire league with 67 draw controls and 49 groundballs. Offensively, Sisson is third in points (69), fourth in goals (52) and seventh in assists (17). For her efforts, Sisson earned First Team All-Conference honors as a midfielder. Finally, she was named USA South Rookie of the Week four times this spring.

In her fourth season at Christopher Newport, Head Coach Carolyn Raveia collects her third Coach of the Year honor. This season, Raveia has led the Captains to an 11-2 overall record, a perfect 7-0 conference mark and the program's fifth consecutive USA South Regular Season title. Raveia has yet to lose a game against a USA South opponent. Raveia now leads her squad into the USA South tournament as the top-seeded team and five-time defending champions.
