Meredith Atop USA South Preseason Women's Lacrosse Poll

(FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.) – Meredith College, under the direction of Head Coach Lauren Scott, in her fifth year, was picked to win the 2017 USA South Athletic Conference women's lacrosse title in the preseason coaches poll. Last season, the Avenging Angels captured the program's first USA South regular season title and third consecutive Conference tournament championship. Meredith received six of seven first place votes and 36 points as head coaches do not vote for their own teams in the balloting.

There was a traffic jam at the second spot in the poll as three institutions received 26 points. Greensboro College, Methodist University and Piedmont College were tied for second with the Lions earning the final remaining first place vote. Placing fifth in the poll with 14 points was Huntingdon College followed in sixth by Ferrum College who grabbed 11 points. LaGrange College rounded out the voting in seventh with eight points.

The women's lacrosse season gets underway on Saturday, February 11 as five League teams are in non-conference action.

The 2017 USA South Women's Lacrosse Tournament will feature the top-four seeded teams and take place at Callaway Stadium in LaGrange, Georgia on April 14-15 as a part of the USA South Spring Sports Festival hosted by the City of LaGrange and Troup County.
