Meredith Defends USA South Women's Lacrosse Tournament Championship

(LaGRANGE, GA) - The 2017 USA South Lacrosse Tournament has concluded at Callaway Stadium in LaGrange, Georgia as a part of the USA South Spring Sports Festival. Top-seeded Meredith captured its fourth consecutive championship by defeating third-seeded Piedmont, 18-7.

Piedmont jumped out an early 4-3 with 18 minutes remaining in the first half. Meredith responded by scoring the next six goals to close out the half and lead 9-4 at the break. The Avenging Angels' offense did not slow down in the second half as Meredith outscored Piedmont, 9-3, in the second stanza.

Meredith's Carlee Joseph led all players with five goals while her teammate, Hollie Hite, tallied three goals and one assist including a team-high three draw controls. For her efforts during the tournament, which included a total of nine points on eight goals and one assist with nine draw controls, Hite was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player. For the Lions, Caitlin O'Brien led the way offensively with a team-high three goals and one assist.
