GRAND LAKE, Colo. -- The Meredith College lacrosse team earned distinction as a 2017 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad as announced Wednesday afternoon. Carlee Joseph, Jennifer Halvorson, and Cameron Ruffin were also named to the Division III Academic Honor Roll.
The IWLCA named 308 programs across Divisions I, II, III, and NAIA, who qualified with a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the academic year. This marks the second team recognition for the Avenging Angels in the program's five-year history.
For the first time in program history, Meredith lacrosse players also earned selection on the individual honor roll. Players must be a junior, senior, or graduate student with a 3.50 or higher cumulative grade point average. The IWLCA named 532 student-athletes from 159 Division III institutions.
Halvorson graduated in May with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sports Science. Joseph and Ruffin return this fall for their senior seasons with the Angels. Joseph majors in mathematics as part of Meredith's dual degree engineering program, and Ruffin studies both criminology and sociology with a minor in pre-law.
