Kelly McEleney Resigns as Peace Women's Soccer Coach
Raleigh, NC - Head Soccer Coach Kelly McEleney resigned her post this month with the Peace College Pacers. McEleney led the Pacer soccer team for three seasons with her highest league finish at eighth in 2007. During her tenure, two players and recent graduates, Haley Bright and Harlonda Smith, earned all-conference recognition a combined five times. May 2010 graduate and student commencement speaker Randal McLean earned the college's prestigious Scholar Athlete Award in 2009 and the esteemed Frazier Cup this spring.
On track to secure her largest recruiting class for next fall, Coach McEleney graduated six in May, four of whom completed all four seasons of eligibility with Peace.
McEleney secured full-time status with Peace College in August 2008 as the athletic recruiting coordinator. She served as the liaison between athletics and the department of admissions. Her leadership and efforts bridged a gap between the two offices and created a more interconnected recruiting effort college-wide.
"I want to thank Kelly McEleney for her leadership of the soccer program the past three years, as well as improving the recruitment process through her hard work as our athletic recruiting coordinator. Kelly was a very popular coach on campus and will be missed by the student-athletes, the athletics staff, and the Peace College community," commented Kelly Johnson, director of athletics.
