CNU Captures Volleyball Tournament Crown
(NEWPORT NEWS, Va.) - The 2011 USA South Volleyball Tournament finals took place on Saturday, November 5 on the campus of Christopher Newport University as the top-seeded Captains defeated second-seeded Averett University, 3-0, to capture their fifth consecutive tournament crown.
CNU controlled the match throughout en route to the straight set (25-14, 25-13, 25-17) victory. The Captains' Jessie Heavenrich was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player as she notched a 35 assists in the final match. With the win, CNU earned the USA South's automatic berth into the NCAA Division III Tournament.
