Bullock Named Greensboro Head Volleyball Coach

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Greensboro College has named Kathy Bullock the fifth head volleyball coach in the program's history, Director of Athletics Bryan Galuski announced Friday.

"I am very excited to announce Coach Bullock as our new head volleyball coach," Galuski said. "Coach Bullock brings a wealth of collegiate coaching experience and incredible passion for teaching and leading student-athletes.

"She has tremendous energy, an unbelievable work ethic and great will to succeed. This is an excellent day for our Greensboro College volleyball program, and I am very pleased to welcome Coach Bullock to our team."

Bullock, a 1987 graduate of North Carolina A&T State University, comes to the Pride from Tennessee State University, where she has served in the same role since 2004.

"I would first like to say thank you, Jesus, for answering my prayer and blessing me with an opportunity to be around like-minded people with like-minded goals," Bullock said. "I want to also thank President Czarda, Coach Galuski, and the rest of the athletics administration, friends, colleagues and family for supporting my decision to be the next head volleyball coach at Greensboro College.

"I look forward to building a dynasty! Go, Pride!"

During her 13-year tenure with the Tigers, Bullock established herself as the program's all-time winningest coach with 177 victories while also leading her team to the program's first NCAA Division I Tournament appearance in 2007 after winning the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament Championship.

In addition, Bullock also led TSU to a school-record 22 wins in 2005, which was a 17-game turnaround from her first season. It ranked as the highest turnaround in NCAA Division I volleyball that year.

Under Bullock's guidance, the Tigers had 19 All-OVC selections, seven All-Newcomer honorees, and the OVC Defensive Player of the Year in 2016.

Prior to joining the Tigers, Bullock served her alma mater for 10 seasons as its head volleyball coach.

At A&T, Bullock posted an overall mark of 146-161 while coaching seven first-team All-MEAC selections and one MEAC Player of the Year.

Prior to joining the coaching ranks, Bullock had a stellar four-year career at A&T where she was named to the volleyball All-MEAC first team each of her four seasons, the only player in conference history to achieve that honor.

"Coach Bullock will be a wonderful coach for Greensboro College and the volleyball program. She is committed to the student-athletes' academic success and graduating them in four years or sooner. As far as on the court, I have been highly impressed with how she mentors her student-athletes and sought ways to promote and involve the student body to attend volleyball games, as well as the community. In addition, she is supportive of other sports and will bring a team-spirited drive toward excellence, both academically and athletically." – Dr. Johnnie Smith, Tennessee State University Athletic Director for Academics

"In the world of college athletic professionalism, Kathy represents all that is good in college athletics and will bring a plethora of volleyball knowledge to the Greensboro College volleyball program. The parents of the young ladies who will come under Coach Bullock's vast volleyball knowledge and enthusiasm will be able to take comfort in knowing their daughter will be coached by one of the best volleyball coaches in the sport of college volleyball. Following their volleyball careers, they will become contributors to society and will graduate from a fine institution with her guidance both on and off the court." – Dr. Alfonso Scandrett Jr., Former North Carolina A&T Director of Athletics
