USA South Golf Athletes of the Week - Apr. 10, 2019

Golfer of the Week
Larkin Gross, Methodist - The senior from Center Cross, Virginia placed first out of 73 golfers at the Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate's Gold Tournament in Jacksonville, North Carolina last week by shooting a 12-under par 204. In the three-round event, Gross opened with a three-under par 70, followed with a seven-under par 63 and finished with a two-under par 71 to help the Monarchs to a first place team finish. Also Nominated: Grady Anderson, N.C. Wesleyan; Cory Selander, Pfeiffer; Christian Payne, Piedmont; Jorgen Buskbjerg, Averett.

Golf Co-Rookies of the Week
Jack Phenecie, Pfeiffer - The freshman from Davidson, North Carolina placed tied for 26th out of 73 golfers at the Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate's Gold Tournament in Jacksonville, North Carolina last week by shooting a six-over par 222. In the three-round event, Phenecie opened with a two-over par 75, followed with a one-over par 71 and finished with a three-over par 76 to help the Falcons to an eighth place team finish.

Frankie Schmitt, N.C. Wesleyan - The freshman from Buenos Aires, Argentina placed tied for 26th out of 73 golfers at the Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate's Gold Tournament in Jacksonville, North Carolina last week by shooting a six-over par 222. In the three-round event, Schmitt opened with a five-over par 78, followed with a three-under par 67 and finished with a four-over par 77 to help the Battling Bishops to a second place tie team finish.
