BASEBALL

Baseball Player of the Week
Lincoln Hewett, Greensboro - The senior outfielder from Gainesville, Georgia hit for the cycle in a 21-7, seven-inning, win over Piedmont International in the Pride's only contest from last week. Hewett was 4-for-5 with three runs scored and three RBI in the victory. Also Nominated: Brady Ballstadt, Piedmont; Trey Croom, N.C. Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Jordan Davis, Maryville - The junior from Maryville, Tennessee tossed a complete-game shutout for the second consecutive outing, this time in a 5-0 win over USA South foe Berea in his only appearance on the mound for the Scots last week. Davis allowed just four hits and two walks with 12 strikeouts en route to the victory. Baseball Rookie of the Week
Dawsyn Hock, Averett - The freshman catcher from Hopewell, Virginia was 2-for-3 with one double in a 16-1 loss to USA South foe Pfeiffer in the only contest he appeared in last week for the Cougars. Also Nominated: Gabe Lopez, Maryville; Andrew Nichols, N.C. Wesleyan.

Baseball Rookie Pitcher of the Week
Matthew Scavotto, Brevard - The freshman from Charlotte, North Carolina earned his first collegiate save as he got the final three outs in a 5-4 win over USA South foe Brevard in his only appearance last week for the Tornados. Scavotto allowed one hit and one walk but rebounded with back-to-back strikeouts to end the game. Also Nominated: DJ Cooper, Maryville; Mack Rexrode, Averett.

 

SOFTBALL

Softball Player of the Week
Hannah Hoban, Piedmont - The senior infielder from Phoenix, Arizona went a combined 6-for-13 (.462) with a .500 on-base percentage, a 1.462 slugging percentage, five runs scored, 11 RBI, one double, four home run and one walk in 3-1 week for the Lions versus USA South competition. Hoban now has nine home runs this season which breaks her own single-season program record. In a doubleheader sweep of Brevard, Hoban was a combined 3-for-7 with three runs scored, eight RBI, one double and two home runs. In a doubleheader split with West Division champion Maryville, Hoban was a combined 3-for-6 with two runs scored, three RBI, two home runs and one walk. Softball Pitcher of the Week
Lauren Melton, Huntingdon - The Wadley, Alabama sophomore earned a 2-0 record with one save last week in four appearances, two starts, for the Hawks in the circle versus USA South competition. She tossed a total of 17.2 innings, allowing two unearned runs on 13 hits and four walks with eight strikeouts. In a doubleheader sweep of Agnes Scott, Melton collected both wins, one of which a complete-game victory. In a doubleheader sweep of Covenant, Melton earned a no-decision in the first game and collected the save in game two. Hannah Thompson, Averett - The freshman infielder from Pelham, North Carolina was a combined 7-for-13 (.538) with a .625 on-base percentage, a 1.538 slugging percentage, five runs scored, five RBI, four doubles, three home runs, two walks and one stole base in a 2-2 week for the Cougars versus USA South competition. In a doubleheader sweep of Salem, Thompson was a combined 5-for-8 with three runs scored, four RBI, three doubles, two home runs and one walk. In two losses versus Greensboro, Thompson was a combined 2-for-5 with two runs scored, one run batted in, one double, one home run, one walk and one stolen base. Also Nominated: Blythe Best, Methodist; Brianne Coleman, Salem; Michaela Dailey, Agnes Scott; Drew Graham, Piedmont; Lydia Lewis, Huntingdon; Candice Smith, William Peace; Ashley Spencer, Berea; Rylee Wheeler, N.C. Softball Rookie Pitcher of the Week
Ansley Brown, LaGrange - The freshman from Sylacauga, Alabama posted a 2-0 record last week in two appearances, one start, for the Panthers in the circle. She tossed a total of 14.0 innings, allowing three runs (1.50 ERA) on 11 hits with zero walks and seven strikeouts. In a 3-1 win over Judson, Brown came on in relief in the first inning and logged seven shutout innings, allowing three hits with four strikeouts. In a 5-3 win over Berea, Brown went the distance with three strikeouts to earn the victory. Also Nominated: Hannah Thompson, Averett; Sarah Gundlach, Meredith; Madison Thomas, Salem.

Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week
Hewitt Farr, Brevard - The senior attack from Santa Fe, New Mexico totaled nine points on five goals and four assists in an 18-5 win over USA South foe Averett in the Tornados' only game last week. Farr also added two ground balls and two caused turnovers in the victory. Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week
Robert Kokal, Brevard - The Monroe Township, New Jersey junior midfielder recorded a game-highs of 14 ground balls and six caused turnovers in an 18-5 win over USA South foe Averett in the Tornados' only game last week. Also Nominated: Raymond Edwards, Huntingdon; Sam Garrett, Averett; Lamont Nesbitt, Piedmont; Tom Romanik, Pfeiffer; Liam Von Hoene, Methodist.

Men's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week
Avery Jenks, Piedmont - The freshman attack from Peachtree City, Georgia totaled eight points on four goals and four assists to go along with 13 ground balls and one caused turnover in a 2-0 week for the Lions against USA South competition. In an 8-5 win over Greensboro, Jenks was held scoreless but collected six ground balls and one caused turnover. In a 24-11 victory over William Peace, Jenks scored four times with four assists and seven ground balls. Also Nominated: Mason Foy, Averett; Paul Gordon, Huntingdon; Jacob Leone, Pfeiffer.

 

WOMEN'S LACROSSE

Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week
Kaelyn Holland, Methodist - The senior midfielder from Lorton, Virginia totaled 16 points on 14 goals and two assists with three ground balls, two caused turnovers and one draw control in a 2-0 week for the Monarchs. In a 22-1 win over Salem, Holland scored a career-high eight goals with one assist, one ground ball and one draw control. In a 21-6 victory over N.C. Wesleyan, Holland tallied six goals with one assist, two ground balls and two caused turnovers. Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week
Holly Hite, Meredith - The senior midfielder from Apex, North Carolina totaled 28 draw controls, four caused turnovers and three ground balls to go along with six goals and one assist as the Avenging Angels posted a 2-0 record last week versus USA South competition. In a 24-1 win over USA South foe Averett, Arbes collected five draw controls, five ground balls and five caused turnovers to go along with one goal and one assist. In a 24-3 win over William Peace, Hite totaled 13 draw controls, two caused turnovers and one ground ball to go along with four goals and one assist. In a 24-3 victory over Brevard, Hite notched 15 draw controls, two caused turnovers and two ground balls with two goals scored. Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week
Maya Flake, Meredith - The freshman midfielder from Oak Ridge, North Carolina tallied 13 total points on eight goals and five assists with one ground ball, one draw control and one caused turnover in a 2-0 week for the Avenging Angels versus USA South opposition. In a 24-3 win over William Peace, Flake notched four goals with three assists. In a 24-3 victory over Brevard, Flake totaled four goals, two assists, one ground ball, one draw control and one caused turnover. Also Nominated: Hannah Mae Ayers, Averett; Lily Eisenhart, Methodist; Dana Florian, William Peace; Sada Hollowell, Greensboro; Cara James, Salem; Aislynn Kimbro, Piedmont; Savannah Ryan, Huntingdon.

Men's Tennis Player of the Week
Tim Hengst, Brevard - The senior from Menden, Germany earned a 2-0 record at both the top singles and doubles spots last week for the Tornados. Hengst collected singles victories over opponents from USA South foes LaGrange and Huntingdon. In doubles, Hengst teamed with Tyler Frazee to earn the wins. Also Nominated: Simon Levinsson, Averett; Wynn Johnson, Methodist; Roman Webb, Piedmont; Kyle Kelley, LaGrange; Logan Hull, Covenant; Giannis Brokakis, N.C. Wesleyan.

Men's Tennis Rookie of the Week
Tyler Frazee, Brevard - The freshman from Tampa, Florida earned a 2-0 record at both the number-two singles spot and top doubles position last week for the Tornados. The victories in singles came over opponents from USA South foes LaGrange and Huntingdon. In doubles, Frazee teamed with Tim Hengst to earn the two wins. Also Nominated: E.J. Stolmeijer, Methodist; Houston Medlock, Piedmont; Tyler Kelly, Covenant; Jhonny Acosta, NC Wesleyan.

 

WOMEN'S TENNIS

Women's Tennis Player of the Week
Samantha Sepe, Brevard - The freshman from Niceville, Florida earned a 2-0 record at both the top singles and doubles spots last week for the Tornados. Sepe collected singles wins over opponents from USA South foes LaGrange and Huntingdon. In doubles, Sepe teamed with Kelsey Kushner to earn the two wins. Also Nominated: Grace Wilson, Salem; Heidi Sarkkinen, Averett; Caroline Connelly, Piedmont; Ansley Moody, LaGrange; Fariza Abdulloeva, N.C. Wesleyan; Samantha Sepe, Brevard; Josie Waddell, Huntingdon; Sydney Honeycutt, Pfeiffer.

Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week
Fariza Abdulloeva, N.C. Wesleyan - The freshman from Samarkand, Uzbekistan earned a 3-0 record at both the top singles and doubles spots last week for the Battling Bishops. Abdulloeva collected singles victories over opponents from USA South foes Meredith, William Peace and Mary Baldwin. In doubles, Abdulloeva teamed with Milena Amedieva to earn the three wins. Also Nominated: Edi Nixon, Salem; Inka Zeilstra, Averett; Samantha Lowry, Piedmont; Laney Beckwith, Covenant; Callaway Cook, LaGrange.

 

MEN'S TRACK & FIELD

Men's Track Athlete of the Week
Jeremy Prichard, Methodist - The senior from Havelock, North Carolina competed at the North Carolina A&T Invitational last week in the 400 meter hurdles. He posted a time of 53.28 which is currently the third-best in the nation. Also Nominated: Cortez Sawyer, William Peace; Alvin Jacobs, Piedmont; William Bryan, Covenant; Tevin Colson, Pfeiffer. 

Men's Field Athlete of the Week
Killian McClain, Piedmont - The junior from Saint Mary's, Georgia competed at the Berry College Invitational last week in three field events. In the shot put, he posted an effort of 11.82 meters. In the discus, McClain had a throw of 34.59 meters. Finally, in the hammer throw, McClain's best was 39.89 meters. Also Nominated: Michael Rawlings, Covenant; Jonathan Brindle, Pfeiffer.

Men's Track Rookie of the Week
Cortez Sawyer, William Peace - The freshman from Zion, Illinois competed at the North Carolina A&T Invitational last week in two track events. He ran the 100 meters in a time of 10.95 and the 200 meters in a time of 22.56. Also Nominated: Justin Wilkes, Piedmont; Kenan Waltower, Pfeiffer.

Men's Field Rookie of the Week
William Underwood, Piedmont - The freshman from Senoia, Georgia competed at the Berry College Invitational last week in three field events. In the shot put, he posted an effort of 12.11 meters. In the javelin, Underwood set a new program record with a throw of 40.43 meters. Finally, in the discus, Underwood's best was 27.57 meters. Also Nominated: None.

 

WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD

Women's Track Athlete of the Week
Anteca Hill, Piedmont - The freshman from Thomson, Georgia competed at the Berry College Invitational last week in three track events. In the 100 meters she broke the program record with a time of 12.75. In the 200 meters, Hill posted a 26.49 and notched a 49.99 as a member of the 4x100 meter relay team. Also Nominated: S.K. Lipperd, Covenant; Brina Bentley, Pfeiffer.

Women's Field Athlete of the Week
Giahnni Fernandes, Piedmont - The sophomore from Dacula, Georgia competed at the Berry College Invitational last week in three field events. In the shot put, she broke the program record with a 10.88-meter effort. In the discus, Fernandes broke her second program record with a throw of 37.10 meters. Finally, in the hammer throw, Fernandes best was 42.31 meters. Also Nominated: None.

Women's Track Rookie of the Week
