(FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.) – Meredith College, under the direction of Head Coach Lauren Scott, in her third year, was picked to win the 2015 USA South Athletic Conference women's lacrosse title in the preseason coaches' poll. Last season, the Avenging Angels captured the program's first Conference Tournament championship. Meredith received four of seven first place votes and 33 points as head coaches do not vote for their own teams in the balloting.
Piedmont, last season's USA South Regular Season Champions, finished second in the balloting with 32 points and two first place votes. Placing third in the poll with 28 points and the final first place vote was Ferrum College followed in fourth by Greensboro College who grabbed 21 points. Huntingdon ranked fifth with 14 points, Methodist University was sixth with ten points and LaGrange College rounded out the poll in seventh with nine points.
The women's lacrosse season gets underway on Saturday, February 7 as Huntingdon takes on Rhodes in non-conference action.
The 2015 USA South Women's Lacrosse Tournament will feature the top-four seeded teams and take place at the Rocky Mount Sports Complex football stadium in Rocky Mount, North Carolina on April 17-18 as a part of the USA South Spring Sports Festival.
