RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Meredith College volleyball Angels captured the program's second USA South Conference Tournament Championship last weekend and earned the league's automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament. MCVB drew the Emory University Eagles in first-round action and will face off Friday, Nov. 9, at 12:30 p.m. in the Mount Berry Regional at Berry College. Eight teams will compete in the Georgia regional with 64 teams overall in the bracket.
With Coach of the Year Fiona Barkley in her 11th season leading the Avenging Angels, USA South Player of the Year Caroline Corey, and All-Conference honorees Haley Reeg and Cathy Delano, alongside a solid starting rotation, the Avenging Angels are poised to compete strong this weekend. Seven of this year's squad traveled to Fredericksburg in 2016 for a NCAA first-round pairing with Juniata, with Corey, Delano, and Reeg seeing time on the court.
This marks Emory's 23rd consecutive postseason appearance and 24th overall. The Eagles earned the University Athletic Association's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament as the conference champion last weekend.
